Hello I’m Owain. I’m the co-founder of and ex-CEO of Seer, a data science lab focused on bringing advanced machine learning and big-data solutions to the maritime and logistics sectors.
I am also the ex-CTO of Flytta, a end-to-end customs automation product turning messy trade documents into instant customs declaration using data pipelines, ML, OCR and eventually AI in a workflow like product which was acquired by Sedna in 2024 where I now lead on AI, Data and ML
I’ve spent my career building and consulting on data-driven products that solve real operational problems—across ports, shipping, transport, and customs and building businesses that do so. Alongside this, I stay hands-on as a Python-heavy data scientist, working across cloud infrastructure, automation, and applied AI.
Throughout my career I picked up a strong interest in startups and scaling through starting and selling my own, which informs current non exec and angel investing.
I was raised in Beaumont Texas 🇺🇸 but now I’m based in the North East of the UK 🇬🇧 When I’m not building tech, I’m training—hiking long distances, lifting, or preparing for my next challenge: a 75 km ultramarathon around Windermere.
Current interests: AI in traditional industries, big-data engineering, automation, endurance training.
